  WHAT IS PLAGIARISM?
An act of using or closely imitating the language and thoughts of another author without authorization and the representation of that author’s work as one’s own ,as by not crediting the original author.
CONSIDERED PLAGIARISM:
·         Turning in someone else’s work as your own
·         Copying words or ideas from someone else without giving credit
·         Failing to put a quotation in quotation marks
·         Giving incorrect information about the source of quotation
·         Changing words but copying the sentence structure of a source without giving credit
·         Copying so many words or ideas from a source that it makes up the majority of your work, whether you give credit or not

Paraphrasing:express the meaning using different words, especially to achieve greater clarity.

Referencing:provide a book or article with citations of authorities.

PREVENTING PLAGIARISM
PLANNING YOUR PAPER
1.ASK YOUR INSTRUCTOR/LECTURER.

WRITING IN PAPER
1.CITE SOURCES
·         If unclear whether an idea in paper really came from you or whether got it from somewhere else and just changed it a little, you should always cite source.

·         If discussing the ideas of more than one person,be careful with pronouns.

3.KNOW HOW TO PARAPHRASE
·         Changes both the words and the sentence structure of original, without changing the content.
4.EVALUATE YOUR SOURCES
·         Make sure  know the author of the page.
·         Where they got the information
·         When they wrote it.

·         Include a reference page or page of works cited at the end of paper.
·         Check the guidelines for citing sources properly and make sure that page meets the document formatting guidelines used by uitm.

THE FORMULA USED FOR THE CALCULATIONS OF THE GRADE POINT AVERAGE (GPA) IS AS FOLLOWS:

GPA= The total credit values registered and attempted in the assessment of a semester ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The total credit units acquiredin the same semester

To find GPA weighted by credit hours, follow these steps:
1.Multiply each numeric grade value by the number of credits the course was worth.
                    2.Add these numbers together.
3.Devide by the total number of credits you took.
                    4.Your GPA=3.53

Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) refers to overall GPA,which includes dividing the number of quality points earned in all courses attempted by the total credit hours in all attempted courses.

CGPA= The total credit values registered and attempted in the assessment of all semesters
The total credit units acquired in all semesters
